Knowing

‘Knowing’ is a phenomenon that’s quite the opposite to being in one’s head. Knowing, and trusting your own Knowing, is a different thing to the possession of facts, or what we refer to as knowledge. Knowing is an immediate quality of understanding which exists prior to the intellect, based on our Awareness.

“Trust your own knowing.” – Zach Rehder

We all have Knowing, but the undercurrent of self-judgement combined with a cultural bias towards intellectual and academic knowledge means that very few people in our culture actually trust their own Knowing to any significant degree.

The healthy state of affairs is for intellect to be a servant of Knowing, of your Choice, of your Being, rather than your master. When we allow ourselves to trust our own Knowing, we are in full flight, blossoming and powerful. Self-judgement compromises this natural state of affairs.

“The mind: Wonderful servant, horrible master.” – Ken Wilber
